Loading... Please wait...You’ve heard of "WaterFed Technology" and the wonders it can do for your business. Promises of "cleaning twice as fast" and "safer than ever" sound amazing. But, how does it work?
First we need to talk a little chemistry.Water (H2O) is made up of one atom of oxygen and two atoms of hydrogen. Hydrogen is positively charged and oxygen is negatively charged. A water molecule is unusual in that its charge is not equally distributed, meaning that one side is positive and one side is negative. In short, water is a great solvent! In nature we find water full of dissolved particles. When we purify it, we remove the dissolved particles. Pure water is an extremely effective organic solvent. It fights to return to its impure state, breaking down organic materials. In the example below, see how the polarized water molecules break up normal table salt (NaCl) into individual ions. This makes it great for cleaning windows. |

A modern pure water window cleaning system runs water through several stages of filtration. The simplest systems rely on Deionization filters (DI). In areas where water has more dissolved particles (i.e. is dirtier) more sophisticated system are often used. Carbon and Sediment pre-filters are used to clean out larger particles and chlorine, which is very destructive to the Reverse Osmosis (RO) filter. The water then goes through the RO membrane. This filter is a semi-permeable membrane that blocks anything larger than a water molecule. By this point the water is very clean. DI is a last step for polishing off any remaining dissolved particles.
When your system is working well, it should be delivering water with 0 total dissolved solids (TDS). The water runs through hose and tubing from your system, up through a pole, and through a brush onto the window or other surface.
Scrub the dirt and grime away. Remember, the pure water is great at dissolving organic materials; you won’t need any chemicals. Once the window has been scrubbed, lift the brush off the window and rinse thoroughly. That’s it. Walk away without drying the window. It will dry spot free!
