High Rise Window Cleaning Speed CompetitionCompetitors will start at the top of a structure, unattached to rope. On GO, you'll  attach to rope, go over the edge and descend. There will be a column of three windows that will be accessible by a single descent. You'll descend to the first window, clean it, and move on to the next. Time will end as soon as you reach the ground.

Rules

Contest equipment shall be a 18” squeegee and a 18” washer. You may choose a brand of their choice. Combination squeegees (Wagtail, Back Flip, VisaVersa, Fliq, etc.) are not allowed. Competitors may also use a bucket, towel, and suction cup of their choice. If they don’t bring their own, they may select from the tools available. Time will be the time from when GO is called until they reach the ground plus any time added for mistakes and violations.

Time will be added by:

Making mistakes in cleaning:
    1. Streak/smear/water residue - ½ second
    2. Sill not wiped - 1 second
Minor safety violations:
    1. Stepping too close to the edge without being attached - 10 seconds
    2. Not being attached to bosun’s chair - 10 seconds 
    3. Not following manufacturer’s guidelines on descender (not using a second hand on rope with an ID for example) - 5 seconds per incident
    4. Not having tools tethered - 10 seconds
    5. Anything else that judges consider to be a minor safety violation - Time penalty TBD
Major safety violations which lead to automatic disqualification. Major safety violations are at the discretion of judges. Exact list of violations and penalties may change.

Bosun Chair Rescue CompetitionCompetitors start at the top of a structure, unattached to rope. On GO, they will attach to rope, go over the edge and descend. Below them will be a Rescue Randy who has slipped out off his Bosun Chair and is hanging from his back up device attached to his back D Ring. You'll need to descend to Randy, perform a pick off rescue, and lower Randy and yourself to the ground. Time ends when they reach the ground and disconnect from their rope.

Rules

Their time will be the time from when GO is called until they reach the ground and get disconnected plus any time added for mistakes and violations. Time will be added by minor safety violations.

 WaterFed® Competition- Competitors begin with a Triple Crown WaterFed® pole laying on the ground. On "GO", he or she will pick up the pole, extend it to reach the target windows, use the system and pole to clean those windows, lower the pole back down, and set it on the ground when their time will stop.

IWCA Speed CompetitionJudged by an expert referee and timed by 2 others, contestants must start with applicator in one hand and squeegee in the other and remain so throughout the attempt. Applicator must not be touching the window. Judge calls GO and the timers start their watches. The entire window must be wetted and the sill must be wiped clean. Contestants call STOP when they have cleaned all 3 windows and wiped the ledge. Both timekeepers report to the referee who determines the correct time.

Rules

If there are discrepancies, the slower time shall be recorded. Judges and referee check smears and the referee then aggregates the time and smear penalties.

Contestants must use the equipment supplied by the IWCA and the sponsors of the contest. No other equipment and materials will be permitted. No specially designed equipment and materials will be allowed. All equipment submitted becomes the property of the contest committee.
