Squeegees

Choose a window cleaning squeegee that fits your work

A window squeegee combines a handle, a channel, and a rubber blade. Choose the channel length for the glass you clean, then match the handle and replacement rubber to that channel. Start with a complete squeegee if you need a matched tool, or shop individual parts to maintain your existing setup.

Squeegee buying guide: sizes, handles, and rubber

What size squeegee should I buy?

Measure the glass inside the frame and choose a blade that fits comfortably across it. These sizes are useful starting points; narrow panes, deep frames, and your cleaning technique may call for a smaller tool.

  • 6-10 inches: Consider a shorter channel for small panes, divided windows, and tight spaces.
  • 12-14 inches: A practical starting point for general residential windows and controlled work around frames.
  • 16-18 inches: Consider these sizes for larger panes where a longer blade can cover more glass per pass.
  • 20 inches and longer: Useful for broad, unobstructed glass. Check that you can keep the full rubber edge in contact with the glass; a wide-body channel adds rigidity at longer lengths.

Cleaning several window sizes? Pair your main squeegee with a shorter one for panes it cannot fit.

Match the handle to the channel

Check both the body type - standard or wide - and the rubber-retention system. Clip-style channels use clips to secure the rubber; clipless systems rely on a compatible handle to hold it. A handle that looks similar is not necessarily a fit. Use the product's stated compatibility, especially when mixing brands or changing from a standard channel to a wide-body model.

Compare squeegee handles and read our guide to clip-style, clipless, and wide-body channels. If you will use an extension pole, also confirm that the handle fits the pole tip or locking system.

Choose the correct replacement rubber

Match the profile before the length. Rounded and T-shaped rubber are different profiles. For example, the Unger S standard clipless channel uses rounded rubber, while the Monster Wide Body T Channel - Black uses T-shaped rubber. Wide-body does not automatically mean T-shaped: check the exact channel specification.

Choose replacement rubber sized for your channel and follow its fitting instructions, including any required clips or end pieces. Soft rubber is generally suited to colder conditions and uneven glass; hard rubber is generally suited to warmer conditions and large, smooth panes. Check the rubber manufacturer's recommendations for your conditions.

Shop replacement squeegee rubber. Inspect the wiping edge if a clean blade repeatedly leaves lines; worn or nicked rubber may need replacing.
